Introduction to Natural Building for Sunshine School, Old Goa

This hands-on mud-building workshop at Batim Mud House brought together students from Sunshine School, Old Goa to explore earthen construction as a material and ecological practice.

Working directly with soil, participants learned how mud blocks are prepared and shaped, gaining an understanding of how architecture can emerge from locally available, natural materials.

The session emphasised learning through making, encouraging curiosity, experimentation, and collective effort. By engaging with earth as a building material, the workshop introduced sustainability as an embodied experience, rooted in care, collaboration, and a deeper connection to land.

Students feedback displayed that sustainable best practices is a necessity at the foundational level of our education system. Working with and engaging with Nature's architects as it imbibes care for our environment amongst the youth.
